NEW AMBASSADORIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

Two senior officers in the Public Service and a veteran Trade Unionist are Barbados’ latest Ambassadors.
 
Foreign Minister Senator the Hon. Maxine McClean today announced the appointments of Mr. Samuel Chandler and Ms. Sandra Phillips as the new Ambassadors of Barbados to Belgium and Venezuela respectively, and  Mr. Joseph Goddard as the new Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

H.E. SIR LLOYD ERSKINE SANDIFORD, AMBASSADOR OF BARBADOS TO THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA MET WITH VICE MINISTER OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA

In warmly welcoming Ambassador Sandiford, Vice Minister Chen underlined the strong relations between the two countries. He indicated that the establishment of a Barbados resident mission in Beijing offered significant opportunities for deepening and strengthening ties. For his part, Ambassador Sandiford pointed to the important role the Shanghai Expo 2010 would play in providing a platform for Barbados and other countries to enhance their relationship with the people of China, including with regard to tourism.

OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE EMBASSY AT BRASILIA ON APRIL 27, 2010

On 27 April 2010 Senator the Honourable Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade officially opened Barbados’ Embassy at Brasilia.

ISSUE OF$100,000,000 BARBADOS GOVERNMENT 6 I/2 % TREASURY NOTE 2019

Applications are invited for subscription to this Treasury Note which opened on May 01, 2010. 
The Treasury Note will be issued at par with a fixed interest rate of 6½% payable on April 30 and October 31 of each year.

President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency, Hu Jintao, has warmly welcomed His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford as Barbados’ first resident Ambassador in China.

It is with a deep sense of regret that the Government of Barbados has learnt of the passing of Mr. John Licorish, Honorary Consul of Barbados in Boston.
