The Foreign Affairs Division is responsible for the formulation of Barbados' foreign policy.  The Division directs the country's international relations thrust, coordinating the work of Barbados' overseas missions and consulates as well as guiding other Ministries of Government on foreign affairs matters.

The Foreign Affairs Division is organised into sections along broad functional lines covering International Relations, Public Affairs, Protocol, Consular Matters, Information and Systems, and Administration.

The Foreign Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade coordinates the country's relations with the outside world. From political and security issues to social and economic concerns, the Division and its overseas offices monitor Barbados' external relations, respond to threats and/or opportunities, and advance the country's interests in bilateral and multilateral forums.

The Division is staffed by a group of professionals trained to understand the subtle dynamics of international relations. They are skilled in the art of diplomacy, always acting as the eyes, ears and voice of Barbados within the community of nations.
