Cuba’s President Calls On Barbados’ President

President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today paid a courtesy call on President of Barbados, The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, at State House.

During the visit, President Díaz-Canel and Dame Sandra discussed a wide range of matters important to Cuba and Barbados.

The delegation included Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; the spouse of President Díaz-Canel, Ms. Lis Cuesta Peraza; Cuba’s Ambassador to Barbados, Sergio Pastrana; and Minister of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology, Davidson Ishmael, who is Government’s chaperone for the official visit.

The Cuban leader is in Barbados for an official State Visit and to participate in the Eighth CARICOM-Cuba Summit, which will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6.  

These events will commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Barbados and Cuba, as well as CARICOM-Cuba relations, which were established on December 8, 1972, by four CARICOM Member States, namely Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
